ALTAR is first and foremost an apprenticeship, held within the nourishment and rhythm of a retreat.

The Location

The retreat is held within a beautiful private estate on the Roseland Peninsula in Cornwall. The estate is surrounded by trees, gardens, lakes and an estuary, offering privacy, wild beauty and a peaceful rural setting.

Cornwall is a land rich with ancient myth and magick. For generations, pilgrims have come here to pray, heal and remember. The land carries a deep, wild feminine current. The fae, piskies and merfolk are not stories but living presences woven through land, water and stone.

Litha. The Sun at its zenith. The height of warmth and light. Roses in full bloom. Long days spilling across land and water.

Mornings begin by spiralling into our soma. Breath and embodiment opening our life-force.

The days are rich and full. Learning and reclaiming with hands. Remembering with the sacredness of the body. Giving and receiving touch as sacred exchange. Priestess arts. Days infused with beauty, oxytocin and attuned connection. The body honoured as temple.

As evening comes, the body is invited into heat and rest. Sauna as purification. Fire as witness and alchemiser. Yoga Nidra guiding the nervous system into deep rest.

We will pilgrimage to the faeries at the sacred feminine waters of St Nectan’s Glen. Water as blessing. The land meeting us as teacher and ally.

This a living temple, held in an intimate circle. A space where sisterhood becomes sanctuary. Where being fully seen, learning together and resting side by side feeds something ancient and essential. Life lived as ceremony.

Throughout these days, you are not only nourished. You are apprenticed.

You leave with something embodied…
a way of listening, touching and holding that has been practised until it lives in your body.

What is received here is carried back into your communities. Onto the women you go on to hold.

  • ALTAR is held within a beautiful private estate on the Roseland Peninsula in Cornwall, situated on the Fal Estuary. The exact location will be shared once your place is confirmed.

  • ALTAR takes place from Wednesday 17 June to Monday 22 June 2026.

    Arrival is from 2pm on Wednesday 17 June, with our Opening Circle at 4pm.

    Departure is after breakfast on Monday 22 June.

    This is a five day, six night immersion.

  • £2555 early commitment (first 4 women) then £2888 thereafter.

    A £555 non refundable deposit is required to secure your place.

    The remaining balance must be paid in full prior to our time together.

    Monthly payment plans are available can be arranged once your application has been accepted.

  • The easiest way to arrive is by car.

    Newquay Airport is approximately 50 minutes from the venue.

    Truro train station is around 20 minutes away.

    Taxis will be required for the final part of the journey if coming by plane or train.

    Once the group is confirmed, we will support coordination where possible

  • Accommodation is offered separately, in addition to the apprenticeship fee, due to the variation in room standards.

    All women receive the same depth of teaching, care and ceremonial holding regardless of accommodation choice.

  • ALTAR is an application only apprenticeship retreat.

  • ALTAR is held in an intimate circle of eight women.

    This small group of sisterhood allows for depth and spaciousness, with ample time for hands on practice, receiving and integration.

  • Yes. All meals are organic, nourishing and high vibrational, and we can cater for dietary requirements and allergies.

    You will be asked to share your needs during the application process.

  • No formal massage qualification is required to undertake ALTAR.

    This work is rooted in presence, devotion and embodied transmission rather than certification.

    Everything you experience here will deepen and refine any existing bodywork, healing or ceremonial practices you already offer.

  • Mastery and authority in this work are earned through practice, integrity and devotion, rather than paper certificates.

    ALTAR is an apprenticeship and initiation.

  • If you wish to obtain insurance to offer bodywork in a professional setting, most insurers require a Level 3 massage qualification.

    ALTAR does not replace this requirement. It is a self-initiation into sacred touch, presence and energetic transmission. Whether or not you pursue formal qualifications afterwards is entirely your choice.

  • Is this work physically demanding?
    This work is embodied and requires a basic level of physical strength and flexibility.

    You will need to be comfortable squatting, kneeling and working close to the body for extended periods of time.

  • What should I bring?
    Once your place is confirmed, you will receive detailed guidance on what to bring.

    All essential materials for the apprenticeship itself are provided.

  • After ALTAR, you will be added to a WhatsApp group for ALTAR alumni.

    Optional 1:1 mentorship sessions are available with me at additional investment.

  • ALTAR is first and foremost an apprenticeship, held within the nourishment and rhythm of a retreat.

    You will be deeply nourished and you will also leave with embodied feminine devotional bodywork skills.

  • Your £555 deposit is non refundable, as your place is held exclusively for you and the retreat is intentionally small.

Welcome sister. I am Amy Rose.

I serve at the altar of womanhood, walking the spiral path of Earth, Blood, Womb and Soma.

I walk beside women through the great initiations of life, holding and witnessing their reclamation, their rage and their radiance. I tend the fires of transformation and welcome women home to remembrance and liberation.

My work invites women to ignite the priestess within, to remember the feminine temples that live in their hearts and hands and to seed this wisdom back into their communities.

My gift is attunement. I see you.

Women come to me to be deeply met and guided back into their embodied authority, sensuality and eros.

I midwife what is ancient, embodied and ready to return.

Ancient earth wisdom lives in my Capricorn bones and the heart-fire of the lioness pours through all my offerings.

I was born on Mother’s Night, deep in the womb of winter, a time of darkness, gestation and rebirth. This is the womb of my work.

I am a rooted woman of the Earth and a channel for the Goddess… fully human and fully divine.

  • Sometimes you just want to sit at the feet of the high priestess and receive the teachings the way they were offered in the days gone by. Amy Rose creating Altar was that prayer answered. I had a yearning to go deeper, with my offerings, knowing that the body is a sacred vessel that holds experience and stories of a life lived.   • I’ve been doing psychotherapeutic work for over 20 years, and I do not need anyone to prove to me that touch contact is transformative. Touch offered in alignment, attunement, consent, presence and with love - in pure devotion, where your body is prayed on. This touch not only contacts the physical vessel but acts as a gateway to the soul - it blesses, arouses and awakens the spirit. Amy’s Altar apprenticeship was a calling i gnew I had to move towards as a Body Psychotherapist. A deeper invitation through touch. It is a meditation in motion. It is deeply therapeutic on levels I could write a PhD or whole book about, cross referencing multiple theories, perspectives, anthropological studies and produce evidence based data & reams of quantitative analysis to prove its potency to you, but, like I said it doesn’t matter….   • Receiving Amy’s devotional bodywork & being part of the immersion was nothing short of life shifting. Completing her apprenticeship felt like a homecoming to a deeper truth within me, one I hadn’t fully allowed before. Something profound clicked into place during this immersion.
