Ancient Maya womb wisdom meets modern feminine restoration

Rooted in the lineage of traditional Maya abdominal therapy, Womb Cocoon is a deeply restorative womb and abdominal tending.

This devotional bodywork honours the womb not as a problem to fix but as a sacred power centre of vitality, intuition, creation and feminine intelligence.

Holistic womb tending

Reconnection & Restoration

Many women move through life carrying depletion, guarding and disconnection within their pelvic bowls.

The womb is deeply receptive.

She holds our stories.
Our stress.
Our grief.
Our sexuality.
Our thresholds and transitions.

What is not processed can begin to settle within the tissues over time, shaping the breath, posture, nervous system and landscape of the pelvis and abdomen.

This may be experienced through painful cycles, fertility challenges, chronic pelvic tension, scar tissue, numbness, disconnection, digestive stagnation or a loss of connection to erotic vitality and feminine aliveness.

The womb is one of the places women have been most silenced, shamed and pathologised.
And yet she is also a centre of immense intelligence, creation, intuition and power.

Over time, stress, violations, trauma, surgery, birth experiences, inflammation, hormonal transition and protective holding patterns can influence circulation, organ mobility and softness within the abdominal and pelvic tissues.

Womb Cocoon creates space for restoration within the pelvic bowl.

The body is listened to.
The womb is tended with reverence.
The nervous system is invited into safety.

This work is most effective when received consistently over time.

The abdominal and pelvic tissues often hold years of compensation, emotional guarding and restriction. Just as the body learns these patterns gradually, it also unwinds gradually.

Continuity allows the nervous system to settle more deeply, circulation to improve, the tissues and organs to respond more fully and the woman to cultivate a more intimate relationship with her own womb wisdom and self care practices.

Womb Cocoon is not intended as a quick fix.

It is a devotional tending relationship with the body.

Women are therefore encouraged to commit to a minimum of four sessions to receive the deepest benefit from this work.

This bodywork is rooted in the sacred healing lineage from the Maya people of Belize, honouring the body, the Earth and the wisdom of the womb.

Traditional Maya abdominal therapy descends from the teachings of Don Elijio Panti, the renowned Maya healer, herbalist and spiritual doctor of Belize, whose work wove together abdominal massage, medicinal plants, midwifery wisdom, prayer and relationship with the natural world.

These teachings were later carried forward by Rosita Arvigo following years of apprenticeship with Don Elijio, allowing traditional Maya abdominal techniques to be shared more widely alongside modern anatomical understanding.

At the heart of this lineage is the understanding that tension, congestion and restriction within the abdomen and pelvic space can affect circulation, digestion, menstrual wellbeing, organ mobility, fertility and emotional health.

Through external abdominal massage and womb tending, the work supports blood, lymphatic and energetic flow whilst encouraging greater softness, vitality and connection within the feminine body.

What is Maya abdominal therapy?

Maya abdominal therapy is an ancient external abdominal massage practice rooted in the healing lineage of the Maya people of Belize.

The work supports circulation, organ mobility, digestion and energetic flow within the abdominal and pelvic space whilst tending the womb as a centre of feminine vitality and intelligence.

What makes Womb Cocoon different from regular womb massage?

Womb Cocoon is a deeply restorative womb and abdominal tending practice rather than a standard massage treatment.

Sessions focus specifically on the belly, womb, pelvic tissues, diaphragm, psoas, sacrum and nervous system through slow, intuitive and highly attuned touch.

Rooted in Maya abdominal therapy and feminine bodywork traditions, this work honours the womb not simply as a reproductive space, but as an energetic and emotional centre deeply connected to the whole woman.

Womb Cocoon is offered in Cornwall within a private restorative space devoted to feminine wellbeing, nervous system repair and deep rest.

Why might women feel drawn to womb tending?

Women often seek holistic womb tending during times of transition, depletion or disconnection from the body.

Some arrive whilst navigating painful cycles, fertility journeys, postpartum restoration, digestive stagnation, scar tissue, pelvic heaviness, bloating, hormonal transition or chronic pelvic tension.

Others simply long to soften chronic holding patterns, reconnect to their feminine body and experience the nourishment of being deeply listened to through touch.

Can Maya abdominal therapy support fertility and menstrual wellbeing?

Traditional Maya abdominal therapy has long been used to support healthy circulation and flow within the abdominal and pelvic space.

Many women choose to receive womb massage and abdominal therapy whilst navigating fertility journeys, menstrual discomfort, hormonal transitions and reproductive wellbeing.

Womb Cocoon is not a medical treatment, but a restorative bodywork practice supporting the body through circulation, nervous system regulation and reconnection with the womb space.

What areas of the body are included in a Womb Cocoon session?

Sessions may include tending to the jaw, breasts, diaphragm, abdomen, pelvic tissues, psoas, womb space, sacrum, hips, glutes and lower back.

Patterns held within the pelvis are often deeply connected to the breath, fascia, posture, emotions and nervous system. This work therefore approaches the feminine body as an interconnected landscape rather than isolated parts.

Does Womb Cocoon include internal work?

No. Womb Cocoon is entirely external bodywork. Please see my Inner Sanctum offering for internal work.

What happens during a Womb Cocoon session?

Each Womb Cocoon session is tailored to you and what your body is communicating on the day.

Alongside Maya abdominal massage, sessions may include breathwork, nervous system support, womb steaming, moxa warming, castor oil packs and self womb massage guidance for home practice.

Women often leave feeling emotionally softened, physically lighter and more deeply connected to their bodies.

How long is a Womb Cocoon session?

Initial Womb Cocoon sessions are two hours and include pre-consultation, yoni steam, womb and abdominal massage and self-care wisdom.

Follow up womb tending sessions are 90 minutes and allow the work to deepen gradually over time through continuity and relationship with the body.

Why is a series of womb tending sessions recommended?

The abdominal and pelvic tissues often hold years of tension, compensation and protective guarding.

Just as the body learns these patterns gradually, it also unwinds gradually.

Receiving holistic womb tending consistently over time allows the nervous system, connective tissues and organs to respond more deeply whilst supporting women in cultivating a more intimate relationship with their own bodies and womb wisdom.
